May – the month of love and games
May as the month of love
May is one of the most beautiful months; crazy spring weather slowly starts to calm down and gets warmer with the promise of coming summer, flowers and trees already comes with their first blossoms, which inevitably includes also May Day kiss under blossoming cherry tree. However, this month does not celebrate only the romantic love, but Mother´s Day reminds us of the love we feel for our mothers. In combination with awakening nature we do not hesitate to call May as “month of love”.
However, May is also full of celebrations of many important events – we will introduce some of them in detail in this article.
The first event that cannot be missed out is Motherś Day, which is always celebrated on the second Sunday in May. This day is reserved for celebration of motherhood and expression of thanks for all that our mothers do for us; at the same time, it is an opportunity for children to repay them for their care.
Mother´s Day has its roots in ancient Greece. Foundations of its actual form come from American tradition, where this day began to be celebrated as official and national holiday in 1914. In Czechoslovakia, this holiday started to be celebrated in 1923, especially thanks to Alice Masarykova. During socialism, International Women´s Day was rather celebrated, which falls on March 8, however, nowadays Mother´s Day comes to the fore.
Everyone celebrates Mother´s Day differently, so it is not surprising that there are many tips for perfect gifts. The so-called “fixed stars” include for example mugs with thematic prints, chocolates and chocolate boxes, scented candles or flowers. But in our opinion, nice Troxi wooden kit would also bring a great joy. It offers ideal way of creative relaxation, or board game that can be source of fun for whole family.
World Games Day
Another event we would like to remind is World Games Day that falls on May 28. This important day celebrates games of all kinds, from simple board games, e.g. pairs, to complex strategic board games and computer games.
Although games can seem like something that belongs only to current modern time, in fact, they have been a part of our society since the times of ancient Egypt or Mesopotamia. World Games Day reminds us of importance of this way of relaxation and reminds us that playing is normal at any age. Modern board games can develop many important skills and abilities, e.g. vocabulary (native or foreign language), cooperation, prudence or planning.
With our board games children can practice differentiating of colors, adding or subtraction or using of imagination in a fun way. Moreover, as we have already indicated in this article, when you play them, you create un forgettable shared experience that are the best possible way to celebrate this day.
